Engagement Rates of Influencers in Different Countries

In our recent blog posts, we talked about what is engagement rate, why is it used to measure the performance of an influencer and we talked about the positive and negative outcomes for focusing too much on engagement rate.

Today we are going to talk about engagement rates of influencers in different countries. This is important as each country has its own characteristics in social media. In some countries influencer contents get more likes and comments while in other countries they get less. While the numbers are different in countries this does not show you that the influencers from low average engagement rate countries are bad and on contrary, the influencers from high average engagement rate countries are good. This only shows you what numbers you can benchmark in that country when you want to collaborate with an influencer.

Here are the top engagement rate countries and the relevant data and visuals are taken from Hype Auditor (2019);

Greece – 5.17%

In 2019, there were 3.204.000 Instagram users in Greece.

Japan – 4.93%

In 2019, there were 26.794.000 Instagram users in Japan.

Poland – 4.35%

In 2019, there were 6.757.000 Instagram users in Poland.

And the the other countries are like this.

Belgium – 4.34%

Norway – 4.30%

Germany – 4.29%

Austria – 4.25%

France – 4.24%

Netherlands – 4.21%

Switzerland – 4.066%

Greece is the top country in 2020, with highest average engagement rate for its influencers. It is followed by Japan and Poland.

Here are the lowest engagement rate countries;

Kazakhstan – 0.41%

In 2019, there were 7.666.000 Instagram users in Kazakhstan.

Kuwait – 0.48%

In 2019, there were 1.755.400 Instagram users in Kuwait.

Tanzania – 0.63%

In 2019, there were 2.111.100 Instagram users in Tanzania.

While the other countries are listed below;

Saudi Arabia – 0.65%

Thailand – 0.72%

Azerbaijan – 0.74%

Nigeria – 1.07%

Malaysia – 1.09%

Dominican Republic – 1.11%

Brazil – 1.14%

Kazakhstan is the country where influencers’ engagement rate is lowest and it is followed by Kuwait and Tanzania.
